Hospital Programs for Children with Gender Issues
(Also, please see the posting for page 210: Parents and Other Allies of LGBTQ Children and Teens, on the webpage one click back).
Not every pediatrician is well trained in working with children and families that have questions or concerns about gender. But it is likely that the large children’s hospital nearest to you will have a clinic specializing in this care. These programs provide a team of pediatricians, pediatric psychologists, endocrinologists, surgeons, and social workers who know what families and children need to do to deal successfully with gender issues. Ask your child’s doctor for a referral.
